why we grow our own cherries!
In 1992 we began to establish our own apple and cherry
orchards in Washington, where the rich volcanic soil, snow-fed
irrigation supply and long growing season produces some of the
world’s finest and most flavoursome produce.

We did this so as to develop our understanding of the growing
process, maintain control over the supply chain, and develop
new varieties for our customers.

Today we operate over 1400 acres of organic and conventional
fruit, making us one of Washington’s largest apple and cherry
farmers - and the biggest organic cherry producer in the
United States - possibly the world!

Under the expert stewardship of Stemilt Agri Services, the
planting, maintenance and picking systems we operate are
among the most advanced within the industry – and this year
helped us to produce over 1,500 tonnes of wonderful cherries.

Key to such a bumper harvest is that we have reduced the risk
of loses to the weather by establishing our orchards in different
locations. Washington is after all a very big state!
stretching the cherry season...
The varieties we grow and the location of each of
our orchards in terms of altitude and elevation,
has been carefully selected to maintain the highest
possible quality for the longest period of time.

New varieties, new sources
We are determined to maintain our position as the
world’s leading producer and supplier of cherries.

In Washington, this means we will look to create
new organic and conventional orchards, maximise
our crops, and extend the season by introducing
new varieties to supplement those we already grow.

And with an eye on opportunities further afield,
we travel the globe to seek out new sources and
growing regions to meet consumer demand.
